Our Injection Molding Process
End-to-end service from your design file to finished plastic parts
Design Review & DFM
We review your 3D CAD files (STEP, IGES, SolidWorks) and perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis — identifying draft angles, wall thickness, and parting line issues before tooling begins.
Mold Design & Toolpath
Our engineers design the complete mold assembly — cavity, core, runners, gates, cooling channels, and ejection system — then generate precision CNC toolpaths for milling and EDM operations.
CNC Mold Machining
The mold is machined using our VMC centres (3, 4, 5-axis) and CNC lathes. Hard-to-reach features are finished with EDM. Final surfaces are polished or textured to the required SPI finish specification.
Mold Trial & Validation
T1 samples are produced and inspected dimensionally. We optimize injection parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time) and perform First Article Inspection (FAI) with a full dimensional report.
Production & Delivery
Approved parts enter production. All parts undergo 100% visual inspection and sampling dimensional checks. We handle packaging, labelling, and delivery pan-India with export shipping available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our injection molding and CNC mold making services
What is injection molding with CNC machined molds?
Injection molding with CNC machined molds refers to the process of first precision-machining a mold (tool) using CNC machinery — typically from aluminum or tool steel — and then using that mold to inject molten plastic under pressure to produce custom plastic parts. At S.S. Engineering, Vadodara, we machine all molds in-house on our VMC and CNC turning centres, giving us complete quality control over both the tooling and the final plastic parts.
How long does it take to make an injection mold?
Prototype aluminum molds are typically ready in 2–3 weeks from approved design. Production-grade tool steel molds (P20 or H13) take 4–6 weeks depending on part complexity and number of cavities. Expedited scheduling is available for urgent requirements. Contact us with your design files to get an accurate timeline.
What mold materials do you use?
We machine injection molds from aluminum (6061 / 7075) for prototype and low-volume tooling, and from P20, H13, or S7 tool steel for production molds capable of hundreds of thousands to millions of cycles. Our engineers recommend the right material during the DFM review based on your required shot volume and plastic material.
What plastics can you injection mold?
We process a wide range of thermoplastics including ABS, Polypropylene (PP), Nylon (PA6/PA66), Polycarbonate (PC), POM/Delrin, PEEK, TPE, TPU, HDPE, and LDPE. Food-grade and medical-grade material options are available on request. Custom or glass-filled grades can also be accommodated.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
There is no strict MOQ. We support prototype runs from as few as 50–100 pieces using aluminum tooling, through to mass production volumes of millions of parts on steel production molds. Pricing and tooling choice are tailored to your annual volume. Contact us for a quote.
How much does an injection mold cost in India?
Mold cost depends on part size, complexity, number of cavities, and mold material. A simple single-cavity aluminum prototype mold typically starts from ₹30,000–₹80,000. Production steel molds range from ₹1,00,000 to several lakhs. We provide transparent, GST-compliant quotations in INR within 24–48 hours of receiving your files.
Do you provide First Article Inspection (FAI) and quality reports?
Yes. After the T1 mold trial we issue a complete First Article Inspection (FAI) report with dimensional measurements against your drawing. We also provide material test certificates, batch inspection reports for ongoing production, and PPAP documentation on request. Third-party inspection (SGS, TÜV) can be coordinated for export orders.
Do you ship injection molded parts across India?
Yes. We ship pan-India from our Vadodara, Gujarat facility to all major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Coimbatore. International air and sea freight is available for export orders to the USA, Europe, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
